Six COVID-19 cases now in Hawke’s Bay

Hawke’s Bay now has a total of six COVID-19 cases in the region, including a further two cases to report today. The Ministry of Health will officially notify these cases today, along with one case that missed the cut off yesterday, (19 January). Central Hawke’s Bay has the highest number of Maori double-vaccinated for COVID-19 in the region. Figures released by the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board up to the week ending last Sunday, show 85% of the Maori population in the district have received two doses of the vaccine. More than 120,000 doses of the child (pediatric) Pfizer vaccine have been delivered to over 500 vaccination sites around New Zealand as health providers prepare to start immunising 5 to 11-year-olds tamariki from today, 17 January. The Tararua District Council has issued a precautionary boil water notice for the Eketāhuna Water Supply. The Council said the notice was due to this week’s heavy rain causing the source water to become turbid and non-compliant with the NZ Drinking Water Standards requirements.
