Central Hawke’s Bay has the highest number of Maori double-vaccinated for COVID-19 in the region.

Figures released by the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board up to the week ending last Sunday, show 85% of the Maori population in the district have received two doses of the vaccine.

This compares to 81% in Hastings, 82% in Napier and 80% in Wairoa.

Central Hawke’s Bay’s overall double-vax rate hit 90% last week.

The Tararua Health Group has listed details of walk-in vaccination clinics for parents and caregivers wanting to get their children aged 5 to 11 their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The age group became eligible from yesterday for the vaccine, with walk-in vaccinations available at The Hub in Dannevirke this Thursday and Saturday, and again the following Saturday.

Bookings can also be made at www.bookmyvaccine.nz.

The Ministry of Health has listed two further locations of interest after two positive COVID-19 cases in Hastings.

McDonald’s and Totara Health are not classed as “close contact” locations, and anyone who was there during the listed times is asked to self-monitor for COVID symptoms for 10 days.
