Ruahine Animal Rescue – Find Your New Best Friend
If you're looking to add a furry friend to your family, the team at Ruahine Animal Rescue may have the perfect companion waiting for you. Every animal receives dedicated one-on-one care to help give them the best possible start to a loving forever home.
Visit their website to view animals currently available for adoption, arrange a meeting with a dog or puppy, or pop along to the shelter on Saturday mornings between 10am and 11.30am to meet a variety of animals looking for their new families.
FENZ Waipawa Volunteer Fire Brigade - Training night
The FENZ Waipawa volunteer fire brigade train Monday nights at 7 pm and have their Pump Appliance and their Operational Support Van; they are looking for volunteers for both - BA Wearing Firefighters and Operational Support. If you want to know what each role entails, go to a Monday night training, and they will let you know.

Te Koha Manaaki – The Gift of Care
Do you know someone aged 65 or over who could benefit from a little extra kindness and support?
Woburn Masonic Care is launching Te Koha Manaaki – The Gift of Care, a community initiative providing small personalised care packages to older people in our community.
This programme is not just for those experiencing hardship. It may be someone who is living alone, feeling isolated, or who would simply appreciate a friendly reminder that they are cared for and not forgotten.
Referrals are now welcome, and donations of dry goods or financial contributions are gratefully accepted to help the initiative reach more people.

Takapau & Districts 150 Year Celebration – Calling for Memorabilia
Takapau & Districts will be celebrating 150 years over the weekend of 30 October 2026.
As part of the celebrations, there will be a special historical display at the Takapau Town Hall on Saturday 31 October 2026 and are looking for memorabilia relating to the district that people may be willing to lend.
They would love to hear from anyone who may have:
Old photographs
Newspaper clippings
School or sports memorabilia
Farming or business items
Historical documents or community treasures

CHB Community Patrols - Volunteers Wanted
Community Patrols Waipukurau are looking for volunteers to help with evening community patrols across Waipukurau & Waipawa. Patrols usually take 2-2.5 hours, and volunteers patrol in teams of two. Volunteers can expect to be patrolling schools and businesses, checking for insecure buildings, damage and looking out for suspicious activity which is reported directly to local police. Growing Through Grief - Seasons for Growth
Tailored group programmes support children and young people to understand that change is a normal part of life, while building tools and skills that promote their wellbeing.
Changes can include parent or whānau separation, health diagnosis, anxiety, death, moving school/home/location, friendship changes, imprisonment, and any other change in whānau life.

Health Shuttle - Volunteers Wanted
The Hato Hone St John Health Shuttle operates in Waipukurau and Pōrangahau, offering transport to and from medical and health-related appointments. The service is delivered by volunteers and is supported by koha/donations.
They are currently looking to recruit drivers for these services - if you have a full, clean driver's license, are physically fit, and have a day a week to spare, they would love to hear from you. Call them on 0800 424 778 if you're interested in volunteering.
