The 30thanniversary of the Woodville Lions Club’s Suzuki Coast to Coast ride is taking place this weekend.

Hundreds of riders will start off from Himatangi Beach tomorrow for the 200km ride to Akitio.

The fundraiser began in 1992 to raise money for the Palmerston North based rescue helicopter and has so far raised over $300,000 for the cause.

Last year’s ride was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Police inquiries are underway in Dannevirke after a group of drunken teens allegedly attacked four people at a home in Tennyson Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police said at least six young people were involved, breaking windows, and assaulting the occupants of the house.

Four people were taken to Palmerston North Hospital, with one requiring surgery.

The parties were unknown to each other, and Police are talking to all those involved.

The Waipawa Butchery CHB Premier Cricket side will play their next round of the Murray McKearney Memorial T20 competition at Forest Gate Domain this evening.

Central will take on Taradale, with the game starting at 5pm.

With the numbers of packages and parcels being delivered increasing at this time of year, local Police are asking people to not make it easy for thieves.

Police say thieves will take any opportunity to steal, and parcels left on front doorsteps are an easy target.

Senior Constable Andy Walker says people getting packages delivered to their homes should check their mailboxes regularly, or get their packages sent to a work address.
