Hawke’s Bay Police are reminding owners of Mazda Demio and Nissan Tiida vehicles to ensure they are secure.
A number of Demio’s and Tiida’s have been stolen around the region this year, and Police say owners should consider installing an immobiliser.
A spokesperson said while there is an upfront cost, this is preferable to the cost of insurance claims, let alone the inconvenience of having a vehicle stolen.
The spokesperson said the best option still remains having vehicles garaged if possible.
