Dannevirke’s High Street will be closed between 10 and 11 this morning for the welcoming parade for the 2022 Ross Shield players.

Players will parade down High Street, finishing at the Dannevirke Town Hall.

The first games in the 120th Ross Shield kick-off at 1pm today, where hosts Dannevirke will play Hastings East.

At 2pm, Wairoa play Hastings West; with the day’s final game between Central and Napier at 3pm.

Central FM will have coverage of the tournament each day, thanks to Jane & Molly at Property Brokers Waipukurau.

Tararua District Councillors have voted unanimously to spend $1 million to plan repairs to Dannevirke’s impounded water supply.

The dam has been plagued with issues, and while a number of repairs have already been made, further work is needed.

The Council has so far spent $286,000, excluding staff time, on the dam.

Today is the final day for postal votes for the 2022 Local Body Elections.

Voting closes at midday on Saturday, and authorities advise posting by today to ensure they arrive on time.

The Central Hawke’s Bay District Council has ballot boxes at its offices and libraries, and also at Four Square Waipawa and New World Waipukurau.

For those who haven’t received their voting papers, Central Hawke’s Bay District Council Chief Executive, Doug Tate, advises people to contact the Council as soon as they can.
