The Dannevirke Community Board has announced the finalists for the 2022 Wackrow Memorial Youth Award.

Josiah Max, Charlotte Patu and Toby Walker are in the running for the award, presented in memory of the late Constable Graeme Wackrow, who died while serving with the NZ Police in Dannevirke.

The presentation ceremony will be held in the Tararua District Council Chamber on Monday the 5th of September.

Top New Zealand singer Hollie Smith will play two concerts in Central Hawke’s Bay this week.

Smith, known for her hits including Bathe In The River and Something Good, will play at the Takapau Town Hall tomorrow night and at the Porangahau Hall on Saturday as part of the Small Hall Sessions.

Tickets for Saturday’s show have sold out but are still available for tomorrow night from www.smallhallsessions.co.nz.

The Property Brokers Charity Auction held last week raised more than $70,000.

Held at Toitoi Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre last Thursday, 44 items were auctioned off, along with 38 silent auction items.

The money raised will provide support for the Hawke’s Bay Cancer Society, Hawke’s Bay Rescue Helicopter, and the Property Brokers Hawke’s Bay Community Fund.

Property Brokers Hawke’s Bay Manager, Joe Snee, said it was an amazing result.

Dannevirke’s Waka Petera was named Player of the Match following the Dannevirke Tigers league team win over Wanganui at the weekend.

Dannevirke won their Round Two of the Manawatu Rugby League competition game 36-22, with Waka Petera scoring three tries.

Weller Hauraki scored twice, with Tama Petera and Zamaya Lilo scoring one try each.

The Dannevirke Tigers had an opening round win against Levin, 46-nil, and this weekend will play Linton.
