The nomination period for the 2022 Local Body Elections opens today.
Electoral officers are urging all prospective candidates not to wait until the last minute to read through the relevant information and complete the nomination forms.
Nominations need to be returned by midday on the 12th of August.
Both the Central Hawke’s Bay and Tararua District Councils will hold candidate evenings.
In CHB this on Wednesday July 27 at 6.30pm at the Council Chambers in Waipawa.
For Tararua District, an evening will be held at the Pahiatua Town Hall on July 28 from 6.30pm.

There are nearly 300 active COVID-19 cases in Central Hawke’s Bay.
67 new cases were reported yesterday, taking the districts total number of active cases to 281.
As a region, Hawke’s Bay recorded 524 new cases yesterday, giving a total number of active cases of 3144.
One further death was reported yesterday in the region, and there have now been 50 deaths from the COVID outbreak in Hawke’s Bay.

Further strong winds are on the way for Tararua District.
The Metservice says there is a high confidence of severe gale northwesterlies for exposed parts of the district on Sunday and Monday.

Hawke’s Bay will play Wellington in the semifinals of the 2022 Vantage National U18’s Womens Hockey Champs in Nelson.
Yesterday Hawke’s Bay dominated Taranaki, winning 7-1.
The result saw Hawke’s Bay win Pool D, and the team is still on top of the table for Team Goals, with 27 across the 21-team competition.
