There is an Orange Strong Wind Warning in place for the Tararua District and for areas of Hawke's Bay south of Hastings.

Metservice forecasters say in the 24 hours from 10am today, westerly gales are forecast to be severe at times.

They say wind gusts could reach 120km/hr at times.

Wairarapa MP Kieran McAnulty has been promoted in a Government reshuffle announced by the Prime Minister yesterday.

Mr McAnulty, who is the current Chief Government Whip, will become a Minister Outside Cabinet, with a responsibility for regional issues.

Meanwhile McAnulty along with Finance Minister Grant Robertson will be in Waipukurau and Dannevirke tomorrow.

Grant Robertson will talk about Budget 2022 at Waipukurau’s Civic Theatre between 12.15 and 1.30pm, and at The Hub in Dannevirke between 2.15 – 3.30pm.

Anyone wanting to attend the Waipukurau session can register by contacting Central FM; and for the Dannevirke session the Dannevirke Chamber of Commerce.

Caltex Waipukurau sold a second division winning Lotto ticket last Saturday.

The ticket sold at Caltex was also one of three that had the correct Power Ball number, making it worth $24,329.

The Central Hawke’s Bay District Council will shutdown the water supply to part of Waipawa and Waipukurau today.

In Waipawa, the affected streets include a part of Bibby Street, Johnson Street, Shanly Street, Rathbone Street and number 104 Pourerere Road.

The shutdown will be between 8am and 4pm.

In Waipukurau, numbers 100-120 Porangahau Road will be affected between 9am and 4pm today.
