The SPCA Centre in Waipukurau has been temporarily closed.

In a statement yesterday, SPCA’s Area Manager, Bruce Wills, said the temporary closure was due to staffing availability.

He said animals that need support are being transferred to the Hastings Centre and said all welfare calls were being responded to through the normal process.

Mr Wills didn’t answer our questions around the long-term future for the Waipukurau Centre, nor whether any community consultation will take place over the centre’s future.
