CHB Police made two further arrests in relation to an aggravated robbery at Mobil Waipukurau last week.

The incident happened on Tuesday night when three people entered the store.

Police quickly arrested a 16-year old, who appeared in the Youth Court earlier this week.

Senior Constable Andy Walker said Police had also arrested a 14 and a 15 year old.

They will both be dealt with by Youth Aid.

The SPCA Centre in Waipukurau has been temporarily closed.

In a statement yesterday, SPCA’s Area Manager, Bruce Wills, said the temporary closure was due to staffing availability.

He said animals that need support are being transferred to the Hastings Centre and said all welfare calls were being responded to through the normal process.

Mr Wills didn’t answer our questions around the long-term future for the Waipukurau Centre, nor whether any community consultation will take place over the centre’s future.

One person was seriously injured after a ute rolled on State Highway 50 near Maraekakaho yesterday.

The accident was reported at 12.30pm.
