A fire investigator is looking into the cause of a blaze at a commercial premises in Dannevirke.
Plumes of smoke could be seen coming from the building occupied by Blast and Coat on Miller Street just after 6.30 yesterday morning.
Fire appliances and support vehicles from Dannevirke, Woodville, Norsewood and Napier were all called to the scene.
Miller Street was blocked off just past the corner of Easton Street, with traffic being diverted.
Firefighters had extinguished the fire by 11am, with crews remaining on scene some time afterward to clean up and check for hot spots.

In order to undertake geotechnical ground testing, the Tararua District Council will close the intersection of Waituna Road and Thompson Road near Pahiatua over the next two days.
The closure will be between 9am and 3pm today and tomorrow to allow the ground testing.
A detour will be available via Pahaheke Road.

Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor said he shares some of the concerns of the Pongaroa community over the planting of forests in the area.
The Minister met with locals at the Pongaroa Hotel two weeks ago on the issue.
He told The Country yesterday that he shares the concerns around fire and for the people of the community.
Damien O’Connor said the Government is making changes.
