A new location of interest following the discovery of two COVID cases in Woodville has been added.

The Ministry of Health updated its Locations of Interest list yesterday, adding Four Square in Woodville.

Anyone who was at Four Square between 4.10 and 4.25pm on Tuesday is asked to self-monitor for COVID symptoms, and to get a test and stay home if symptoms develop.

The other two locations of interest in Tararua are Caltex Woodville between 9 and 9.30 last Saturday morning, and Farmlands Pahiatua last Friday between 3.30 and 4pm.

No further cases of COVID-19 have been found in Tararua this week.

Winners at the 2021 CHB Mail – Central Hawke’s Bay Sports Awards will be announced online tonight.

The Sport Hawke’s Bay Facebook page will stream the awards ceremony from 7pm.

Thirteen award winners will be announced tonight – including the CHB Mail Supreme Sportsperson of the Year, along with three Service to Sport Awards.

Fire and Emergency NZ is reminding machinery owners to check their machines for birds nests following a tractor fire at an Ashley Clinton property.

Fire appliances were called to the property on Nelson Road late yesterday morning.

The fire was extinguished quickly and did not spread to the surrounding area.

The Tararua District Council has extended a precautionary boil water notice for Eketāhuna until at least today.

The notice was first issued on Monday following heavy rain at the end of last week, which caused source water to become turbid.

The Council said turbidity levels in Eketāhuna’s water source have reduced and no traces of e.coli have been found, and that water sampling would continue.

Three days of clear tests are needed before the boil water notice can be lifted.

Otane’s John Oliver received a surprise visit from Central Hawke’s Bay Mayor Alex Walker yesterday afternoon to present him with a 2022 Kiwibank Local Hero Award.

Mr Oliver is one of 100 Local Hero’s recognised from around the country in this years Awards.

Earlier this year, John was recognised with the Central Hawke’s Bay Civic Award for his many years of service to the community, including the Otane Fire Brigade, the Arts & Crafts Corner, and the Otane Sports Club.
