Facebook Messenger and Instagram are experiencing technical problems, affecting users’ ability to send and receive messages.
The Meta-owned messenging app and image-sharing app reportedly began experiencing issues at around 7am (NZT), according to Down Detector.
Facebook Messenger confirmed the outage and said the team was working to fix the problem.
“No, your wifi isn’t out. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible,” the company tweeted.
Instagram’s communications team also confirmed the problem on Twitter, saying it was aware some users were having trouble accessing messaging apps.
“Sorry for the inconvenience, and hang tight!”
