One person was reported to have serious injuries following a two-car crash near Otane yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the accident on State Highway 2 at around 10 to 4.
Motorists were asked to delay travel or take am alternate route as only one lane of the road was open.
A rescue helicopter was called to transport a seriously injured person to hospital, according to a Police spokesperson.

The Central Hawke’s Bay district Council is hosting a free Composting Workshop in Takapau this Sunday.
The Council, along with Sustainable Ewe and the CHB Permaculture Group are hosting free composting workshops across the district, to give attendees information on hot and cold composting, worm farms and the art of Bokashi.
This weekend’s event is at the Takapau Playcentre from 10am to 12 noon on Sunday.

It is finals time for the Dannevirke side in the Senior competition.
They will play Freyberg at Massey University at 12.45pm tomorrow.
In other rugby, Bebbington Shield action returns.
Holders Central will travel to Wairoa for a challenge tomorrow.
Meanwhile East Coast – Ngati Porou will play the Magpies at 3pm tomorrow at McLean Park in a Ranfurly Shield Challenge.
Tickets cost $12.40 adults and $5 children.
