More than $5,500 was raised for the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation thanks to a High Tea & Cinema fundraiser last weekend.
Organised by Property Brokers in Waipukurau, the event was held at the Civic Theatre with a special screening of the movie, June Again by New Zealand Director, JJ Winlove.
JJ, who is part of the local Winlove family, recorded a message before the movie played to 250 people on Sunday.
Movie company Studio Canal donated the screening for the event.

The Dannevirke Showgrounds is the venue for an athletics event that dates back to the 1930’s.
Hundreds of competitors are expected at the Anderson Rally tomorrow, with a number of different age group categories.
The U7’s 1km race will start the day at 1.30pm, followed by the U12’s boys & girls 2km at 1.45.
The boys & girls U14, men’s U18, women’s U18 and Masters women which are all 5km, will start at 1.50pm, and the men’s U20 7.5km race and the 10km Open men & women and Masters men will begin at 1.55pm tomorrow.
The Anderson Rally was revived in 2019 with hopes to make it an annual event.

Developers of a building site in Waipawa have taken to having a person staying on site overnight to deter thieves.
Senior Constable Andy Walker said last weekend a Nissan ute with an enclosed trailer drove onto the site, but got surprised by the person living there.
He said the site has been the target of a previous theft.
Mr Walker said building sites are still being targeted, and said people on the sites should keep their eyes open for suspicious behavior.

The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter was sent to the Tukituki Trails near Waipukurau yesterday to airlift a man to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.
The man had had an accident while out riding on an electric bike.
He was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Hawke’s Bay Super 8 Netball : Otane Thirsty Whale will play HHSOG tonight at 6 at the Pettigrew Green Arena, with Central Sports Vet Services HB playing NGHS Senior A at 7.30pm.
Otane are currently second on the competition table with 28 points, and Central sit 4th with 16 points.

Manawatu Competition : Dannevirke Seniors have a bye this weekend, with the Dannevirke Colts playing Freyberg Old Boys away.
