Central Hawke’s Bays District Plan will hit a significant milestone this week.

Tomorrow a decision on notifying the Proposed District Plan for public submissions will be made by Council.

Council chief executive Monique Davidson says the meeting is an important step in the process, and dependent on Council’s decision, public submissions will be open from May 28, marking the start of the formal public notification and remain open until the 6th of August.

She says as Council now enter the formal legal phase of the District Plan review, this further consultation provides an opportunity for residents, ratepayers and key stakeholder groups to formally consider the Proposed District Plan and let Council know what they think about the provisions in it.

The Proposed District Plan will be released publicly this Friday, and will be available on Councils’ website.

A District Plan sets out how land can be used and developed, and how the land and environment will be sustainably protected from the effects of development for present and future generations.
