An information session will be held in Dannevirke today for the latest on construction of the new Manawatu – Tararua Highway.
Officials from the New Zealand Transport Agency will be on hand to give the community an update on progress on Te Ahu a Turanga.
Members of the public will be able to view drone footage, chat to the design and construction team, as well as test-drive the new 11.5km highway with a simulator.
The information session is also a chance to talk about training and employment opportunities.
The session is at the Dannevirke Sports Centre from 4pm today.

One person was taken to hospital with moderate injuries following a motor vehicle accident on State Highway 50 yesterday.
Emergency services were called about 4.20pm after a car hit a bank on the highway between Creek Road and Glencoe Station Road.
No further details on the accident were available.

A heavy swell warning is in place for Hawke’s Bay this week.
A Metservice spokesperson said the easterly swell and storm tides could lead to come coastal erosion's, and flooding in low-lying areas.
Seas are expected to peak tomorrow evening, where they are forecast to reach around five metres.
Northern parts of the region are predicted to be the worst affected areas.

Central Hawke’s Bay Touch Rugby player, Ratahi Corbett, has been selected to trial for the 2022 Youth Trans Tasman U18 team.
Trial camps will be held in July, with players chosen to represent NZ in Christchurch next January.
