Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Inc has signed an official agreement with Oranga Tamariki as it aims to keep tamariki with whānau, and improve the health and wellbeing of Ngāti Kahungunu whānau, hapū and iwi.
The strategic partnership was signed last Friday by Iwi Chief Executive Chrissie Hape and Oranga Tamariki Chief Executive Sir Wira Gardiner.
Ngati Kahugunu Iwi Chairman, Ngahiwi Tomoana, said they are pleased to continue to evolve kaupapa that supports whānau development, and reiterate their intent to work with all government agencies collegially and challengingly to ensure the best results for whānau.
Children’s Minister Hon. Kelvin Davis was present for the signing of the official document.

There are further closures of the Saddle Road this week.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says the Saddle will be closed between 9am to 4pm from today through to and including Friday.
The road will also be shut at night time on the same days between 6pm and 6am.
NZTA advises travellers to use the Pahiatua Track during these times.
The closures are for essential pavement repairs and maintenance work.

The IRD is holding a free seminar in Tararua today.
Organised in conjunction with the Tararua District Council, the seminar is designed to help business owners with IRD’s online services, business structures, income tax, claimable expenses and record keeping.
The seminar is being held at the Tararua i-Site in Woodville from 10am to midday today.
