Central Hawke’s Bay District Council contractors worked late in to the night to repair a water leak at the Tavistock Hotel end of Racecourse Road.
The issue was first noticed late yesterday afternoon, with a section of Raceourse Road reduced to one lane, and traffic management put in place.
This morning the same section remains closed off, as is a section of Racecourse Road near Reservoir Road.

There was a small earthquake near Waipukurau yesterday.
Geonet reported the magnitude 3.7 quake at 12.29pm.
With a depth of 27km, the quake was felt across the region.
Geonet said the “light shaking” quake was located 5km north-east of Waipukurau.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will visit Central Hawke’s Bay this Thursday.
Wairarapa MP Kieran McAnulty has been working on getting the PM to visit the area for some time, and he says he is excited and looking forward to her visit.
He says it was a great opportunity to get the Prime Minister to visit as she flies in to Hawke’s Bay Airport on Thursday morning, making her way to an event in Palmerston North.
Mr McAnulty says there is a lot to showcase in CHB.
