Nearly $24,000 has been pledged on a Givealittle page setup to help a Porangahau schoolgirl. 11-year-old Royal Sciascia has become a tetraplegic following a diving accident in a swimming pool a month ago. Royal broke her neck in the accident, and Doctors say it is unlikely she will ever walk again. She underwent two six-hour surgeries at Starship Hospital in Auckland and spent three weeks in intensive care. The Givealittle page has seen over 400 people make a donation so far.

With a number of local bank branches either having already or are about to shut down, the Dannevirke Chamber of Commerce is asking its members to complete a banking survey. A Chamber spokesperson said they have been working in the background to see what the main issues affecting businesses are, and what may be able to be done to assist. The Chamber has compiled a short survey on the situation, and is asking for feedback by the end of this month. The outcome will be forwarded to Tararua Mayor Tracy Collis who is working with other Mayors  across the country.
