A man was flown to Palmerston North Hospital in the early hours of last Saturday morning following a motor vehicle accident at Herbertville.
The Grassroots Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the scene after a man in his 20’s sustained fracture injuries as a result of the accident.
Meanwhile the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter landed in the grounds of Waipawa School yesterday morning to airlift a person to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.
The patient had suffered a medical event.
The incident was not related to any staff member or student at Waipawa School.
A 19-year-old male has appeared in Court in relation to a car crash on the main road through Waipawa at the beginning of this month.
On the 4th of May a Police patrol clocked a vehicle at 130km/hr on the outskirts of the town.
The vehicle crashed into another car near the Tucker Box Dairy, which saw two people taken to Wellington Hospital with critical injuries.
Two other people were also hospitalised. The 19-year-old was arrested by Police at the scene of the crash, which left the road through Waipawa closed for a number of hours.
Senior Constable Andy Walker said the man appeared in Court earlier this week on 15 charges. He has been remanded in custody.
Waipukurau residents are still being asked to conserve water this morning.
The Central Hawke’s Bay District Council put the conservation call out yesterday following heavy rain, which has caused high turbidity levels in the supply.
The Council said water conservation will help avoid the need for a boil water notice to be put in place.
Metservice has lifted Heavy Rain Watches for Tararua District and for areas of Hawke’s Bay south of SH5.
Last night Metservice said the threat of rainfall amounts reaching warning criteria had passed. An Orange Heavy Rain Warning does remain in place for Hawke’s Bay north of SH5 and is in place until eight o’clock tonight.
