The incident happened in the early hours of Monday April 15th, when a person was hit by a vehicle on State Highway 2.

A 15-year-old youth has been charged in relation to an alleged assault in Waipukurau two weeks ago that saw the victim taken to hospital with head injuries.

The assault happened at the Herbert Street – Russell Street intersection on the 17th of April. Senior Constable Andy Walker said the youth has been charged in relation to this incident.

He said the same person has also been charged in relation to a break-in at the indoor pool in Waipukurau on Sunday morning.

A window was smashed to gain entry to the complex, stealing items from the kiosk area.

Mr Walker said the youth was located at a nearby property on Monday evening.

He said initially the youth fled on foot, but returned to the address later in the evening, and was arrested.
