Tararua District Council is asking people who see others dumping rubbish on the sides of roads to report it.

Last year the Council spent upwards of $40,000 on removing illegally dumped rubbish from roadsides.

A Council spokesperson says the number of instances is increasing and is unacceptable.

Anyone who sees such behaviour can contact Police on 105 or the Council via phone or the Antenno app.

Last year the Council also spent around $30,000 on removing 71 abandoned vehicles in the district.


Lindsay Farm Dairy has picked up two gold awards at the 2024 Outstanding Food Producer Awards.

Lindsay Farm’s Organic A2 Pasteurised Milk and its Organic A2 Raw Milk won golds in the Dairy Category.

Judging for the awards took place in February, with 358 products from 122 producers entered.

A People’s Choice Award is also running, with people able to vote for Lindsay Farm Products on the Outstanding Food Producer Awards website until the end of this month.

Last year, Lindsay Farm won silver for its A2 Organic Pasteurised Milk.


Those planning on taking a dip in the Pourerere Beach lagoon are being advised against it. Recent water samples have shown traces of a particular strain of bacteria, with the public advised to avoid swimming in the lagoon.

Testing samples taken from Pourerere Beach itself have come back clear.
