A person was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital following a serious twovehicle crash at Te Hauke yesterday morning.

The accident – involving a motorbike and a car - was reported to Police around 9.30am, which left State Highway 2 closed until just after 3pm. 

A Police spokesperson said one person was flown to hospital with critical injuries from the crash, which was near Colin White Road. 

Traffic was diverted along Middle Road while the scene was cleared, and an investigation was undertaken by the Police Serious Crash Unit.


Rain yesterday afternoon saw the Centralines Summer Series 10th anniversary concert postponed. 

Organisers made the call yesterday morning after looking at forecasts.

Spokesperson Pip Burne said they are working with the Hawke’s Bay Jazz Club Big Band for a new date for the concert.


A loss for the Waipawa Butchery CHB Premier cricket team in their latest game in the Property Brokers Hawke’s Bay Men’s Competition. 

The game, which was played at Forrest Gate Domain at OngaOnga on Saturday, saw CHB bat first, finishing all-out for 132 after 35 overs. 

In reply, Napier Tech only lost one wicket, and secured the win after 20 overs, finishing on 134.

Saturday’s match was the 150th game for the Central Prems for Toby Richardson.


The first school term for 2024 gets underway this week.

Some schools will return for the New Year today, with all school’s due back by next Wednesday the 7th of February.

The term will run until the 12th of April.
