Power was out to parts of the Takapau area for much of yesterday after high winds brought down powerlines.

Power was out from just after 3am yesterday after lines were downed on the Takapau-Ormondville Road and on Oruawharo Road.

Centralines crews worked on repairing the lines throughout the day, with power fully restored in the area just before 5pm.

Dannevirke’s Bake House has picked up two highly commended gongs at the Bakels Supreme Pie Awards for 2023.

The results were announced on Tuesday night in Auckland.

The Bake House was highly commended for its Potato Top and Steak n Cheese pies.

Over 4000 pies from 500 bakeries across the country were entered into this year’s awards.

Federated Farmers says reaching a point where there are no current infections and no properties under investigation is a significant milestone in efforts to eradicate M.Bovis.

The last known property in the country with M.Bovis has been declared disease free.

Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor said this takes New Zealand to zero confirmed infections.

Wayne Langford, President of Federated Farmers, said they are curiously optimistic that we’ve turned a corner in the Mycoplasma Bovis eradication efforts.

He said it has been an incredibly challenging few years for rural communities who have been anxious about the diseases spread.
