Police are seeking sightings of a Gisborne man who visited Hawke’s Bay on the night of Cyclone Gabrielle and hasn’t been heard from since.

Joseph Ahuriri left Gisborne at 4pm on Monday February 13th, bound for Hawke’s Bay, intending to be back home around 2am the following day.

Due to weather conditions, Mr Ahuriri stayed at a hotel on Marine Parade Napier, and was seen leaving there shortly before 4.30am on February 14th.

Police say his vehicle - a white Toyota Hilux, registration DZH116 – was seen on CCTV in Havelock North – heading south – at 5.15am, and did not return.

Vet Services will hold a community day at its Waipukurau premises tomorrow.

Michelle Cameron from Vet Services says with all of the recent events going on, and it being a hard time for many, the community day is for people to have some fun, and to get some support.

She says what they are trying to achieve is have farmers or other people come in with their families, leave the kids for a couple of hours to be entertained, while they talk to people that they need to speak too.

The community day will also have a movie theatre setup, Mr Whippy ice-cream truck, and a BBQ, and is also a chance for people to take a look through the new changes at the Waipukurau clinic.
