I have been in radio in Hawkes Bay for the past 14 years - firstly as a 16 year old, for Hot 93FM as it was then known in Hastings.

I have been involved with Central FM since the year it began broadcasting in 1994, having a brief break in 1999/2000 to work for The Radio Network in Napier as their Traffic Manager.

There have been many changes at the station over the years - going from a staff of over 10 to the 5 there is today - the constant changing of technology - three different owners - and not to mention all the staff that have worked here (at last count over 70!)

One of my main highlights is December 1996 when the station was "locked out" of its premises, meaning a temporary studio had to be built at our transmitter site at Two Peaks.  Despite the stress of the situation, and the long hours put in to keep the station running, it was a fun time, with the support from the community amazing.

As a born and bred local, I love working for one of the last truly local radio stations in the country - and let's face it... who'd want to live anywhere else!
