CHB Police are investigating after machinery belonging to a logging contractor was vandalised recently.

The contractor was working on a property on Blackhead Road, and Police say offenders have started up a digger, picked up logs with it, and dropped them on top of other machinery.

The machinery received significant damage.

Some areas of CHB received a blanketing of hail yesterday afternoon.

The Central Hawke's Bay District Council asked drivers to drive carefully after posting a photo of hail on Giblins Hill on Farm Road.

Temperatures dropped signifcantly yesterday afternoon as a cold snap moved across the region.


Tararua residents wishing to advance vote for the general election can do so at The Hub in Dannevirke.

The advance voting station will be open from 11am - 3pm each day until Friday, and from 10am - 2pm Saturday.

Next week hours will be from 11am - 4pm Monday and Tuesday, and 10am -4pm Wednesday to Friday.

In CHB the advance voting station is at the Chook House in Waipukurau.
